I took my mom here for dinner and it was great. We started off with the complimentary soups. I got the Hot and Sour and my mom got the Pho broth with veggies.
The Hot and Sour soup was good. It's mostly hot (spicy) with a bit of sour. It has bamboo shoots, eggs, mushrooms and tofu. My mom said her soup was really fragrant and the broth really smelled like pho (which is cool because the broth is vegetarian, but traditional pho is made of beef). The veggies in it were bean sprouts and green onions.
Then we created our own dishes. My mom was overwhelmed by the different sauces, so I recommended the Thai Peanut sauce to her since I had had it last time I was there and I loved it. I was going to go for the same but decided to try something new, so I got the Curry Pineapple sauce, which was a bit sweet. I personally didn't like it as much as the Thai Peanut, but my mom tried some of my dish and she liked the Curry Pineapple sauce better. So it really depends on your taste. I still enjoyed my meal, I just think the Thai Peanut sauce reigns supreme, lol.
There were many ingredients to choose from to make your meal. I don't remember them all, but I can tell you what I put in mine: baby Bok Choy, green beans, broccoli, carrots, red cabbage, white mushrooms, scallops, shrimp, mussels (the shells are removed), beef and turkey. It feels a bit immodest to say that my dish was delicious, since I put it together, but the credit goes to the restaurant for the tasty sauces, the fresh vegetables, and variety of good ingredients. The beef was lean, as was the turkey - thumbs up from me, as I hate fatty meats. The shrimps and scallops were both small, but for this type of set up, you can't possibly expect tiger shrimp and Digby scallops, haha.
They have lots of options for vegetarians with beans, tofu, and even falafel patties as protein sources.
So you assemble your bowl and then it gets weighed and the price gets marked down on your paper (so bring the paper that your server gives you), and then it gets fried up and brought to your table when it's done.
My dish was $22.96 and my mom's dish was $16.08 - you can see my pictures for comparison of size. We had no leftovers. I was sufficiently full after my meal. Mom said she could have eaten more, so I think for normal appetites about $20-$25 should fill you up.
You get complimentary rice with free refills, but we didn't need to refill. They give it to you in a plastic red bucket with a lid so it stays warm. And you get some wraps too, but these were in a basket wounded up in wax paper and sat along with the forks and the rice scooper, so we didn't actually discover these until the end of our meal, lol. And I don't think I got any last time I was there (or did and didn't even notice). Anyway, we'll be sure to eat them next time :)
Our server who took our drink and soup orders, and settled our bill was nice, but the owner, Andrew, was exceptional. He was the one who weighed our meals and brought us our cooked dishes. He was very friendly and really made us feel welcomed as customers. It's rare to see owners in bigger establishments with lots of hired help (as opposed to small family-run businesses) out on the floor working as hard as their staff. Kudos to Andrew!
The restaurant is nicely decorated with a pretty waterfall structure by the entrance/exit. The place looks clean and modern.
It's in the Gloucester Centre, so lots of free parking.
Looking forward to coming back and trying another sauce, or maybe just sticking with the Thai Peanut sauce, haha ;) -

This was quite and experience. You guys must read this.
My friends and I decided to go to this place on an uneventful Tuesday night. We had originally wanted to go over the weekend and according to their info on google, they close at 8:30 pm. We called ahead of time to see if they need reservations, but a very annoyed and ill-informed staff informed us that they close at 8:00. Anyway, hence we moved our plans for Tuesday. Now, that it was clear to me that their timings online in wrong, I decided to call the restaurant again on Tuesday to make sure they indeed close at 8 and not some other time on a weekday. This is how that went:
Female employee: "Hi, Mongolian Village, how can I help you"
"Hi, I was wondering what time you guys close today"
Long sigh
Hung up
I call back.
Someone picks up the receiver and puts it back down.
I call back because I am resilient.
Another male employee: "Hi, Mongolian Village, how can I help you"
"I called a couple of times before this call and I think someone hung up on me because I asked how long you guys are open"
"We're open till 8"
"Ok thanks"
Hung up.
Like I said, I am resilient. So my friends and I still went to the restaurant. As Yelp Elite, I often get the opportunity to try new places for free and offer my candid and honest opinion on my experience. For free meals, I always buy drinks and tip heavily, as one should. This was by far, the worst experience.
We reached the place for dinner at 7 pm and before being seated we told our server that we wanted to use our coupons from the Yelp Elite event. He had no idea what we were talking about. He said he would have to call the owner and ask if they can honour it. Fair enough. We were going to pay for the meal if there was a issue because we came all this way eat Mongolian and weren't going back just because a coupon can't be honoured! He seated us and while we waited, he kept coming back to see the coupon and asking a bunch of questions. I mean, if you're giving these coupons away, then you should maybe train your staff as to how to handle it when people do come in to redeem.
They did end up 'honouring it' like as if it was huge favour they were doing us. Once again, you gave us these coupons to use... The entire time, the employees, in general, were passively hostile towards our table. And I'm not being paranoid about this because even my friends at one point were like, it feel like all the employees are just glaring at us as if we're stealing from them.
There was a general assumption that it was our first time trying Mongolian grill (though we have been to quite a few) which lead to some uncalled for advices on how we should fill our bowls. Regardless of all this hostility, we tipped our server quite well because that's what we always do when using coupons.
As for the food... all their sauces are mostly of Asian variety like teriyaki, pad Thai etc. They do not have any dry spices to add, although they have ginger and garlic paste. As for the meat variety, I don't eat red meat, so for me, the white meat variety was sufficient. They also have some seafood variety.
The restaurant is also fairly expensive. They do serve rice and soup with the meal but there is no flatbread included like in other Mongolian Grill restaurants. They charge by bowl weight and any decently filled bowl would cost anywhere between $25 to $55. I must note here that other Mongolian Grill restaurants charge fixed rate by bowl which means you can fill up a medium sized bowl to its brim but pay a fixed amount that ends up being close to an all you can eat buffet price. So I feel if one is paying an average of $30 for a meal here, neither their service, nor the food is worth it. On top of that, the decor is not especially impressive either. There is no background score and the sign outside is missing lights. One part of the restaurant just had its lights switched off because no one was sitting there.
Will I be going back? Probably not. Mostly because the staff made us feel like we were stealing from them whereas they themselves gave us the coupon to use. Also because I think if you're paying $25-$55 for a meal, you're better off going to Milestones or Jack Astor's for better food and service (And I'm not even a fan of either of these franchises!). -

This place has a wode range of selection for stir fry choices and charges your food by weight- which is great because it depends on your hunger. It is also right on the transit located in a mall, so also efficient if you need to pick up booze or groceries. The customer service is very friendly. Every meal comes with rice and soup. My partner and I had a fantsdtic time

It was a long time between visits to a Mongolian grill and the first time at this location.
Well worth the wait
Started well by being welcomed by Owners and staff.
This was a very nice gesture.
We were given a tour of the restaurant.
The meal choices are separated starting with a variety of sauces, carbs, vegetables and then protein.
You take a metal bowl and make your recipe.
The staff recommend ingredients to complement your taste creations.
This is weighed and priced, then heated on a large circular grill.
Then served with sesame seeds if desired.
The first course consisted of two tasty soups.
Then we were served spring rolls with sauce
Any and all questions from our large group were answered graciously
We all felt at home.
Our meals were great.
The atmosphere was pleasant.
Looking forward to returning soon.
Thank you. -
